At the end of 2012, I was honored to become a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA). Unlike other professional associations, the WPJA employs a screening process and only accepts photographers whose work and business ethic meet their criteria. Here’s a little descriptive blurb from their website:
“To us capturing honest moments matters. So do integrity, trust and creativity. Our mission is to guarantee consumers the most extensive and exclusive network of award-winning wedding photographers available anywhere. And our promise to members is a beneficial fraternity in an elite group of the finest wedding photographers in the world…To achieve our mission, the WPJA only accepts into membership gifted, honest wedding photojournalists who work tirelessly to deliver excellent photography to their clients. We also sponsor semi-annual competitions to inspire photographers and illustrate for consumers how transformational truly great wedding photojournalism can be.”
As honored as I was to be accepted into the WPJA, I was even more excited to learn that the image below won sixth place in the reception category of their latest contest. This is the lovely Colleen after a dance with her grandfather:
And here are a couple portraits of Colleen. As cute as the shot with her grandfather is, it doesn’t do her justice…she’s gorgeous!
